Contact Between Child and Family of Origin

In nearly all cases, children will want to maintain contact with their families during the time they are in foster care. Regular contact with their families of origin, when appropriate, tends to lead to a better experience for the child in their new home environment.

It is important that foster carers are prepared to work with the child’s parents, the department and the Foundations Care case worker to maintain contact and prepare for the child’s return home. It really is a collective approach to caring.
